CONCORD, NH — Another fugitive of the week is behind bars in New Hampshire, according to the U.S. Marshals Service. Drew Alden Hankins, 32, who was featured in late January, with a warning that he might be "armed and dangerous," turned himself in to police in Newbury on Tuesday. He was wanted on gun and drug charges out of Dover and a probation violation accusation out of Rockingham County Superior Court. Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal, said, "countless hours" were spent trying to find Hankins during the past two months. Tips had investigators searching "multiple cities, counties, and states throughout the northeast," he noted. "Fortunately, today, Mr. Hankins reached out to the Newbury (NH) Police Chief and arranged to surrender at the police station," White said. "A short time later, Mr. Hankins arrived and was taken into custody and turned over to the U.S. Marshals to be transported to the Rockingham County Jail." Hankins will be processed and held pending his initial court appearances on his two outstanding warrants, he said. According to court records, Hankins pleaded guilty to a deliver weapon, contraband charge in January 2020 after an incident at the Rockingham County Jail in January 2019. In January 2019, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and felony controlled drug: acts prohibited after an incident in Portsmouth in June 2018. After an incident in Hampton Falls in April 2016, he pleaded guilty to drug, disobeying an officer, falsifying physical evidence, and several authority for regulating, taking, inspecting, and processing of marine species charges. In August 2008, he pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and resisting arrest or detention after also being charged with felony escape in Bradford.
