Description
For goodness sake people please stop being careless pet owners and then being surprised when your pet disappears. Don't allow your dog to roam freely in the neighborhood, or leave them outside when you aren't at home. Don't walk away and have them sit in an unlocked car, or have friends or family that aren't 100% reliable watch them if you leave town. Because if you are in the habit of doing any of these things your pet will go missing some day, and that is a certainty.
Since March 1, one main local shelter has taken in 341 dogs and there are no signs that this is slowing down. This is super sad and quite ridiculous. I am asking everyone to step up your game and don't allow your pet to be another statistic. Please use common sense and if your fence does not contain your dog in the yard then don't put them outside unattended. Don't leave them chained up outside with no food, water, or shelter, and don't abandon them when you move. Why would you make a helpless animal suffer for your shortcomings?
EVERY DAY at least one pet is brought in to a local shelter deceased after being hit by a car, or being shot, or being mauled by another dog, or being abandoned on a chain with no food or water for days. This is not right and as humans we should do better than this. Have a little respect and take care of your pets and ensure they are safe and treated properly. If you do you will have a loyal friend for life. And maybe an animal welfare worker will sleep easier at night.
