JOLIET, IL — A gunman opened fire on a woman's car near the Ranch Liquors store in the 1900 block of South Chicago Street, she told police. The woman suffered minor scratches to her face from the shattered glass, but wasn't hit by the bullets, police said.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. on March 12, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office, which helped Joliet police investigate the shooting. Sheriff's deputies were notified of several gunshots near Pico and McKinley Streets, reports show. Joliet police also told sheriff's deputies that they heard the gunshots.
A car found in the parking lot of Ranch Liquors had been shot up.
The woman behind the wheel told sheriff's deputies that "she was leaving her residence (when) unknown offenders opened fire on her vehicle. The victim stated that she ducked in the driver's seat and pulled into the liquor store," sheriff's deputies said.
The gunman drove a dark Chevy Impala, Will County police said.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
