Description
Press release from the City of Golden Valley: March 22, 2021 Golden Valley Boards and Commissions serve as advisory bodies to the City Council, and each group is tasked with the responsibility of researching, reviewing, and making recommendations on City issues. In a world where people can volunteer anywhere, we asked a few commissioners "Why the City of Golden Valley?" Destiny Nathan, Human Rights Commission "Whether you're a teenager or an adult, it is quite easy to feel helpless with all of the bad events going on in the world. In my case, the Human Rights Commission has been a great outlet for me to put the feeling of helplessness behind me. Being able to work together with a group of people who have the same intentions as you do—to make the world a better, kinder place—is such a liberating feeling." Brad Taylor-White, Rising TIDES Task Force "There are so many different ways to be involved in the city, and there really are a variety of opportunities to serve that will cater to whatever one's passion or area of expertise is in. If you're looking for ways to get involved or volunteer, joining a board, commission, or task force is a great way to give back and help shape the future of Golden Valley." Join A City Board Or Commission Nearly every year each City advisory board or commission has at least one opening and the City encourages all residents apply. You must be a resident of Golden Valley to apply; however, applications for the Golden Valley Human Services Commission are also accepted from Golden Valley business and community organization members.
