CALABASAS, CA — A dog was seriously wounded in Calabasas Sunday morning when someone fired gunshots into another car on the 101 Freeway. The shooting occurred at 1:54 a.m. Sunday on the northbound 101, north of the Lost Hills exit, when a white Dodge Charger fired approximately four to five rounds at a silver Kia Soul, according to the California Highway Patrol. The man and woman in the Kia were not struck, but the dog was struck with possibly fatal injuries in the torso, according to CHP. While the suspect is still outstanding, an occupant of the Soul was arrested for outstanding warrants out of Santa Barbara County, CHP Officer Weston Haver told Patch. The dog was taken to the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Care Center of Thousand Oaks. A VSEC representative told Patch that he could not comment on the current status of the dog. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call investigating officer A. Magaña at CHP's West Valley office at 818-888-0980. — Patch staffer Michael Wittner and City News Service contributed to this report.
