Description

GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Multiple prominent elected officials are taking part in a news conference on Tuesday in Greenwich Village to call for the full restoration of C and F train services. The politicians will be standing alongside workers from the Transit Workers Union, who recently filed a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to restore the service on the two lines to pre-pandemic levels. The lawsuit came after the MTA moved to make permanent the service cuts to the two lines initially made last summer, which "many fear could lead to an increase in crowdedness on platforms, and greater difficulty maintaining social distance." The news conference is also scheduled two hours before the MTA is set to testify at the Council's Transportation Committee Preliminary Budget Hearing. The event will take place at noon on Tuesday in front of the West 4th station on the corner of West 3rd Street and 6th Avenue. Joining members of the Transit Workers Union and other advocates will be Chairman of the Transportation Committee Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, mayoral candidate and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Council Member Daneek Miller, and Public Advocate Jumaane Willians. There will also be two video messages from Speaker Corey Johnson, and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer.
