Press release from the City of Berkeley: March 22, 2021 Berkeley, California (Monday, March 22, 2021) - On 3/18/21 at 7:00 a.m. the Berkeley Police Department Special Response Team (SRT) assisted BPD Detective Division in serving search and arrest warrants at a residence on Alcatraz Avenue near Sacramento Street. The warrants were obtained by detectives investigating a shooting that occurred in Berkeley. SRT members safely arrested the person for the warrant without any injuries or other issues. On Friday March 19th, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged the suspect, a 29-year-old Berkeley resident, with two felonies: PC 246, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and PC 29800(a)(1), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
