UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A parrot was in need of rescuing Monday evening on the Upper West Side, and the New York City Fire Department stepped up to the plate. Videos posted to Twitter by Sarah Baicker show FDNY officers successfully rescuing an escaped pet parrot. "Ladder 25 was verbally alerted at 18:20 hrs. that someone's parrot had escaped in route to a veterinarian visit. Ladder 25 was able to extend their aerial ladder to reach the branch where the bird was and a firefighter was able to bring the Parrot down to safety .no injuries to the parrot or anyone else, returned safely to the owner. No information on who the owner is. No further info, thank you." Ladder 25 has its firehouse at the heart of the Upper West Side on 205 West 77th Street. The WestSideRag was the first to report on the parrot rescue.
