Elementary School Lunch & Recess Monitor Substitutes (K-5) Woburn Public School district is seeking Substitute Lunch/Recess Monitors to work during our full, in-person return to learning scheduled to begin on April 5th. All COVID safety guidelines will remain in effect. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; approx. 3 hours per day Rate of Pay: $13.50 per hour General Responsibilities: Our elementary school Lunch/Recess monitors are responsible for the safety, care, and behavior management of our students, as well as the smooth operations of free periods, while acting as a kind, helpful role model. Assist the students with all aspects of lunchtime in the cafeteria, including: lunch line organization, opening various food & drink packages, cleaning spills, and overseeing the general cleanliness of area; granting permission for leaving seat; monitoring attendance during bathroom transitions; reading from lists of daily lunch orders, closely monitoring cafeteria and recess time schedules, etc.Positive Behavior Management: When issues arise across settings, function as a helpful, kind role model for problem resolution. Resolve minor peer conflicts within school guidelines. Assess situations in order to bring more serious behavioral issues to the Principal’s attention. Triage to Nurse, as needed.Recess Duty: Will be required to watch students during indoor and outdoor recess while maintaining alertness, vigilance, and excellent judgment to ensure each student’s well-being across all aspects of behavior during peer interactions and activities.Transitions: Line each class up for transitions to & from classroom, cafeteria, indoor/outdoor recess while maintaining order and quiet. Multi-levels of stairways. Qualifications: Must be a kind, helpful role model for children, while maintaining the physical stamina and mobility required for several hours of standing, maneuvering stairs, walking, being outdoors in all types of weather, and maintaining vigilance throughout both periods.Positive behavioral management, communication, and problem-solving skills.Ability to lift a small child in an emergency.Must pass the following screenings: CORI check, fingerprinting, and be eligible to work in the USA.
