The Material Handler assists with unloading inbound packages, staging outbound packages, hook up the proper hoses and tanks to offload inbound bulk inventory, transload/repackage product if needed. The position will assist with the picking of and staging of packaged orders, the filling of drums and totes. Perform tasks safely and in a manner consistent with California Chemical procedures. Communicates information effectively to internal team members and external customers in a professional manner which contributes to servicing the customer and collaboration. Key Responsibilities: • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times • Conduct chemical bulking/consolidation as required. • Proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance. • Ensure work area maintained in a neat and orderly manner. • Participate in spill response as needed. • Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance. • Operate fork lift. • Loading and unloading of trailers. • Assist with all California Chemical activities on site as needed. • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of California Chemical business. • Load / unload trucks and trailers and complete receiving documentation and entries into the ERP system. • Stack / load pallets and transport material by operating various types of material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, electric pallet jack). • Sort and stock materials, perform product identification and damage inspection. • Maintain accurate and complete inventory control of materials stored in the main and satellite warehouses. • Conduct scheduled cycle counts and physical inventories. • Research, reconcile and correct inventory discrepancies. • Responsible for the internal delivery of materials to the appropriate facility locations. • Maintain current logs in an accurate and legible manner (e.g. housekeeping log, forklift checklist, etc.) in accordance with departmental procedures. • Strict adherence to procedures and practices • Strong emphasis on documentation • Adhere to departmental corporate safety policies. What does it take to work for California Chemical? • High school diploma or equivalent work experience required. • 1+ years of related work experience. • 40 Hour OSHA, DOT and Forklift Training. Preferred but not required • Attention to detail, able to take and follow direction, and to perform multiple tasks. • Ability to interface with customers. • Requires a basic understanding of material handling, warehousing and inventory control. • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet targeted deadlines.
