Description
Sure let's continue to play politics here in Sonoma with people's lives. Why not spend a major portion of a million dollars or more on several traffic lights and electronic patches on the surface of the road. This is how things work around here and most of the world.
Let's complicate it so the public will drop out of decision making. All we need is several signs with and attached flashing amber light that does not flash during the day but does so at night without any electricity.
broad bright reflective yellow painted geometric forms on the ground serve the same purpose as the electronic strip on the ground.
The initial sign should say : warning: pedestrian traffic ahead 300 feet radar enforced. The next sign 100 feet after the initial sign would say 25 miles an hour speed limit radar check. After the Pedestrian Crossing ends will be another sign saying resume 45 mile an hour speed limit. The total cost 4 a handful of these would be less than 2% of the cost of electronic lights that accomplish the same thing. But we know how things work around here and the world. Sonoma is a cash cow for certain politicians and their friends.
