Participate in a paid study to help develop the next generation of automotive safety! Affectiva is looking for paid participants for an In-Cabin Study out of our Waltham Data Lab: Please feel free to sign up for both below! WALTHAM IN-CABIN STUDY BOSTON DROWSINESS STUDY Purpose: The purpose of this study is to collect data of participants expressing various emotional states, facial movements, head movements, body poses, and activities within a vehicle. Participants will be recorded during the study. This data will be used to train AI models that can be deployed in future vehicles providing additional driver safety features and a completely innovative in-cabin automotive experience. The protocol will be performed in a stationary car outside our Waltham Automotive Data Lab. PLEASE NOTE: Participants who choose to take part in our research studies must enter our test vehicles. They must also be comfortable being recorded without a facial mask inside of our test vehicle for part of the recording. Participants who DO NOT feel comfortable with these terms should not apply. Compensation: $100 will be given to each participant through PayPal OR American Express Gift Card (While Supplies Last). Study Location: Affectiva Automotive Data Lab 87 Beaver St Waltham MA 02453 Please see the following requirements to participate: Qualified participants: Must be willing to schedule an appointment that lasts 2 hours. Must be committed to their scheduled study time for participation. Must be willing to be recorded via cameras and microphones during the study. Must not be under the influence of medications, alcohol, and/or other drugs. Must not wear or have any headgear, eye patches, or clothing that blocks the eyes or parts of the face during the study. Regular prescription eyeglasses are exempt from this requirement. Due to the current unprecedented public health crisis, we are taking the following steps to ensure the health and safety of our employees and our research study participants. All Affectiva employees are to wear facial masks at all times. Vehicles used in our research studies are sanitized before and after every participant appointment. Social distancing is requested of all participants and employees. To reduce in-person contact we will no longer be offering the following: Waiting area inside of the Waltham Data Lab. Public restroom usage We ask that all participants maintain a social distance of 6ft at all times when onsite. Study Activities: In this study, participants will be guided through various facial expressions, audio presentations, head movements, activities, and a conversation section. Participants will be recorded during this study. The protocol will be performed in a stationary car outside the Waltham Automotive Data Lab. Scheduling information: Eligible participants will receive scheduling information for a 2-hour time slot. Commitment to your scheduled study time is incredibly important to the success of the study. Please do not sign up if not fully committed to participate. Affectiva reserves the right to refuse study participation for any reason. About Affectiva: Affectiva is an MIT Media Lab spin-off that has developed emotion detection software currently being used in multiple industries, including healthcare, education, market research, and more. Affectiva has since broken into the automotive industry with a focus on driver safety.
