March 2017, Sean Hannity admitted to his audience that he is not a journalist, that his show is a "talk show", it's merely opinion, not news and his audience should be smart enough to know the difference. Last Fall, Fox News in the McDougal case, used the defense that you can't believe the words coming out of Tucker Carlson's mouth. Sidney Powell in the lawsuit by Dominion, is saying reasonable people would not believe what she tells them. Alex Jones' lawyers used the defense that he is just an entertainer in his divorce case. Jones said in a deposition that he lied because he suffers from some psychosis. Meanwhile, the right continues to believe that what they hear from their sources is true, that actual news is "fake", that what they see and hear is not true and that even though all real news reports the same facts including the actual news shows on Fox, are made up. This is how propaganda, gaslighting, cult indoctrination and mind control works. Simply tell people what they want to hear, make things up, lie, promote conspiracy theories and project that duplicity on others and you can get an army of mindless drones to control. Will Hannity's own words convince his audience to stop using his opinions as facts? Will Fox's own words convince Tucker's minions that he's not to be believed? Will Powell's own admissions change the minds of those who still believe her lies about election fraud? Will Jones' own video of his deposition convince people his conspiracy theories were merely his delusions during psychotic episodes? Sadly, they won't. So many deny Climate Change, still using the pseudoscience put out by fossil fuels companies who now admit it was bunk, that they've known since the 1970's that their products were causing global warming. Some still use the fake science put out by the tobacco companies to say their products were safe, but they now admit they lied. Why are people so afraid of the truth? Why do they attach so tightly to bullshit, even when those who told them these lies admit to their faces that they are just that, lies? And they do it proudly, they have no shame, they do not feel embarrassed that they were duped in the first place or that even after knowing they've been duped, continue to delude themselves. Mark Twain was absolutely correct. "It's easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled". They're easily fooled by lies but no amount of evidence or even an admission from the liars themselves will change their minds. It's now easy to see how Hitler gained so many followers, just find a few press outlets to lie, shout "Lugenpresse" about the real press and you're free to commit the worst war crimes, the biggest atrocities in history.
