Champlain Marina is a 118 slip marina located next door to the public boat launch in Malletts Bay. Offering seasonal & transient dockage, gas & diesel fuel, pumpouts, and winter storage, Champlain Marina offers all basic necessities for the local boating community. Champlain Marina continues to create an enjoyable recreational experience for Lake Champlain boaters and visitors. Summary: Champlain Marina is looking for reliable workers for the 2021 season! The position is for a physically fit and customer service oriented individual(s) to help with dock installation / removal, boat launching / hauling, and manning the fuel dock in the summertime. Our season runs from mid April through the end of October. The position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions. Full time seasonal employment is preferred. Competitive pay and overtime is available during peak times. Advanced opportunities for the right individual. Season: April - early June: Helping with dock installation and launching boats / yard cleanliness Memorial day - Labor Day: Gas dock open 7 days a week, finish launching / begin hauling. Maintain transient dockage. Keep up with general marina maintenance & cleanliness. Labor Day - Nov 1: Yard prep, hauling boats, releasing docks Expect to work weekends and holidays during the summer Skills: Boating experience preferred Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Job involves moving boat blocking, moving jackstands, pressure washing, etc Communication, organization, and safety are key in this position. There can be alot going on at once; it is important to situational awareness and speak up when necessary. Good interpersonal skills is necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively and be attentive to customer needs. Always thinking ahead. Answering phones / VHF radio The right candidate will be trained in use of company equipment: lawn mowers, small tractor, hydraulic trailer, front end loader, work boats / barge Independent thinking and action when necessary Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry skills are a plus Advanced opportunities for the right individual Work Environment: Employees are expected to work outdoors in all weather conditions including snow, ice, rain, and the hot sun. Employees will frequently be on foot throughout the day. The job requires reaching, getting on the ground, using your hands and legs, keen eyesight, and good listening skills. There is a lot of noise due to running machinery and equipment; it is important to be aware of your surroundings and communicate effectively when hearing & sight is hindered.
