Part Time Groundskeeper/Barn Help needed in Canton/Alpharetta for six-stall barn on 22-acre property. The days are divided between 2-3 employees. Stall cleaning is 7 days a week, Labor Day through Memorial Day (June, July and August, horses are out 24/7, barring inclement weather. At that time, focus shifts from stall cleaning to major jobs around the farm.) This job includes weekends and holidays. Pay is double time on major holidays (Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Day), and holiday shifts can be as brief as 3 hours. The job includes, but is not limited to: stall cleaning, driving manure to manure site, churning manure piles, turning out and handling horses using Parelli Natural Horsemanship (horse training one day a week is mandatory), manicuring grounds around home, mucking and maintaining pastures, seeding, inspecting and repairing broken fences, dragging and maintaining arena, removing weeds from pastures and fence lines, taking and returning 3 garbage cans to street weekly for trash pickup, mowing around home and entrance, making repairs on property, barn, and home as needed, pumping water at times from our creek to pastures and lake, maintaining tidiness and sound functioning of property, barn, and home with careful attention to detail regarding cleanliness and appearance of grounds, home and barn. Knowledge on how to operate and upkeep farm and lawn equipment is necessary. Absolute dependability is a must. Must be able to clearly speak and comprehend English for the safety of our animals. Must have actual integrity, sound character, and absolutely love for all animals. Must follow instructions and be capable of performing them with little or no supervision. Liars, thieves, hunters, know-it-alls, and big egos do not apply. Must have your own reliable transportation. Starting pay is $16 per hour with a 3-month probation period. Raise at 3 months, then yearly raises based on performance and reliability. Three professional references are needed. If interested, please respond via e-mail.
