Warehouse Selector Company Overview: Novick Corporation is a food distribution company that specializes in servicing foodservice clients in childcare centers and educational settings. Members of the team are USDA and CACFP specialists, and work with our childcare partners to provide healthier snack and meal options. Our ancillary services allow us to partner with our clients to help fulfill each individual program’s goals for the health of their children. Services include menu planning with our nutritionists, nutritional trainings, portioning and serving guidelines, Serve Safe, inventory and cost control assistance, access to healthier child-friendly product and recipes, and more. Qualifications and Requirements: Good Communication Skills: The Warehouse Selector must be able to understand direction, work quickly individually and as a team, and be able to constructively communicate with the Warehouse Supervisor. Good Math and Reading Skills: The Warehouse selector must be able to read, write, and speak the English language. This position must be able to properly identify product, match picking labels, and keep counts accurate. Physical Requirements: The Selector must have the ability, in general, to perform tasks that require considerable use of arms, legs, and torso such as climbing, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, balancing, and walking. The Selector must have the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs. repetitively throughout the shift and overtime, in a manner that is safe and compliant with productivity standards (performance and accuracy) Experience and Knowledge of: Must have high school diploma; certification on electric pallet jack and stand up reach truck (Hi/Lo) Preferred Applicable and verifiable experience in warehouse distribution; preferably in the food industry, minimum 2 years warehouse experience or 1 year as an order selector in a food distribution warehouse Equipment Used: Electric pallet jack, stand up reach truck (Hi/Lo), hand trucks Scheduling and Working Conditions: Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays as determined by Management. Punctuality and excellent attendance are essential requirements, as is the ability to work additional hours or alternate shifts without restriction as required. While performing these duties, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions, the employee is frequently exposed to temperatures of 0-100 degrees in hot, cold, dry, wet, and humid conditions. Responsibilities Include: Primary Responsibilities: Operating all warehouse material handling equipment safely and effectively including but not limited to a walkie power jack, stand up reach truck, pallet jack, and hand truck Building stable and accurate pallets for shipment. Selecting customer orders from slots, using pick labels and matching those to the product, while constructing pallets in accordance to customer stop and truck schematics Conducting truck inspection before loading to ensure truck is clean, the proper temperature ranges are realized, and it is ready for loading Ability to consistently meet established performance and accuracy standards for: Pick rate – 108 pieces per hour Mis-picks – 1 per 2,000 pieces picked Pallet integrity while in transit (zero damage) Secondary Responsibilities: Performing various warehouse tasks, as assigned, including but not limited to rack work, cleaning, organizing, and other warehouse maintenance needs. Participating in committees /task groups as assigned which may include but is not limited to the following: Departmental meetings, Safety Committee, etc. Performing other duties as assigned.
