Girl singer
Meets
South Bend IN
Description
Hi! I'm looking for a band in South Bend or adjacent area who could use a singer (maybe bass), or fellow musicians who would like to create a band. Rock, grunge, alternative sort of music. I have a somewhat deep voice (contralto), similar to: Fiona Apple, KT Tunstall, Annie Lennox, Natalie Merchant, Patti Smith, Amy Winehouse, Chrissie Hynde, or Jenny Lewis. It's also a little textured, like Courtney Love, and Stevie Nicks. But I don't have a lot of high range, so, not at all like: high male singers such as Axl Rose, Prince, or Vince Neil. Also not as high as girls like Christina Aguilera, Ann Wilson, Cindi Lauper, Kelly Clarkson, etc. My musical inspirations are: I grew up on classic rock, then grew into grunge, punk, and riot grrl. Prodigious metal, classic rock, and hip-hop thrown in. What I listen to (but not necessarily what I want to play): Bikini Kill, Rilo Kiley, Metallica, Sleeper Agent, Black Flag, Car Seat Headrest, Rage Against the Machine, Kim Deal, Sleater-Kinney, Fleetwood Mac, Dr. Dre, Liz Phair, Anti-Flag, Pink Floyd, Grouplove, Dwight Yoakam, Babes in Toyland, Nirvana, Bootsy Collins, White Zombie, Kathleen Hanna, Lauryn Hill, Anthrax, Van Halen, L7, Alice in Chains, Bait Bag, The Go-Go's, Wu-Tang, Joan Jett, Cigarettes After Sex, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Alt-J, the last 3:48 of "Layla," Lorde, Talking Heads, Gojira, Beach Bunny, Wu-Tang, Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys, Heart, and I unashamedly love Shania Twain. I also just started playing bass, but JUST started, and I'm not very good yet. So if you want me to play bass, you've been warned. LOL. I have local-bars-cover-band experience, but that was a long time ago. I love to perform, so ideally would like to play out in actual public places, but really it would just be nice to be playing some music. : ) I'm around 40 and it doesn't matter to me if the rest of the band is guys, girls, whoever. I have a job, but a lot of scheduling flexibility. I'm looking for something really laid-back, fun, and healthy-this should be a way to feel better, not worse. If I'm going to spend my time doing something I'm going to take it both serious and enjoyable. Here is a picture of me from last Fall in case you need to know what I look like standing on a bridge in Chicago. I'm fun, little.
