HFM oversees the timber development and harvesting operations for approximately 3.8million acres of timberland across the USA and Canada. HFS oversees the agricultural assets and operations for approximately 0.3 million acres of farmland throughout the USA. Collectively, HFM and HFS represent the North American property management platform of HNRG. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for implementing, supervising and conducting farming operations in a manner which minimizes expenses and maximizes yields. Capable of training other marsh foreman and laborers once more experience is obtained. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Learn the fundamentals of….. Formulating efficient operating plans on property. Making farming decisions in the absence of the Marsh Manager with regular guidance and oversight from the Area Manager. Performing within the total budget framework adjusting for special unforeseen, uncontrollable conditions that cause variances from “normal” budgeted figures. Implementation and execution of effective, efficient, orderly and timely farming operations including fertilization, irrigation and frost-watch. Promptly responding to special circumstances or conditions during the growing season such as weather, pest, diseases, or other extraordinary events. Effective handling of contractors, labor, vendors, equipment and processors, in a strong, fair manner. Achieving yields comparable to or better than the best farmers in the area with similar property. Assisting other employees in performing their duties efficiently and effectively. Promptly reporting problems or successes and any other reports required by Marsh Manager. Following procurement procedures for the informal bidding process. Ensuring company policies are followed and all employees are property trained. Enforcing company safety policies and acting as marsh safety officer. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in farming and equipment operation. Previous experience in supervising employees preferred. Must be able to work well with management and communicate well with others. Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) is preferred. First aid training is preferred. Must be able to work nights and/or weekends as needed. Must possess valid driver’s license and be insurable with company’s commercial carrier. Must be insurable with Company’s Insurance PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent sitting, occasional lifting of 50-75 pounds or more. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Performing the essential functions of this job may require the incumbent to work with and/or around hazardous materials, perform lifting and bending, or be exposed to unpleasant or hazardous conditions or substances in the field such as heat, exhaust or chemicals.
