We build, own, and manage affordable housing in the City of Boulder, bringing together staff and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to accomplish a common goal.   OVERALL JOB OBJECTIVE: Responsible for identifying, selecting, mixing, and applying chemical or manual solutions to remove unwanted creatures   such as rats, rodents, insects, cockroaches, insects, and ants from an infested environment, building or unit.  Identifies the pest problem and appropriate control strategy, applies chemical or traps, and removes dead rodents. This position is responsible for providing pest control to an affordable housing company in Boulder, Colorado, which owns and manages 17 sites and 1600 units. Entails keeping a building free from pests and maintaining the structural integrity of the building and ensuring the health and safety of its occupants.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (in order of priority): Inspects buildings, and units and the surrounding environment for signs of pest infestation on a regular basis. Determine appropriate methods and chemicals to use on a building or in a unit to eliminate pests. Identify invading pests, including rats, termites, snakes, wasps, ants, spiders, mosquitos, or bed bugs. Set mechanical traps and place bait. Remove dead rodents after extermination. Ensure house or building is properly prepared and empty when product is applied. Air out residence after application, if needed. Identify damage to property and report appropriately. Inspect property to ascertain wall and roof porosity and possible sites of pest invasion. Assess infested locations. Cut or bore into buildings to access infested areas. Treat infested locations with appropriate pesticide. Clean and remove pesticides after application. Study preliminary reports and diagrams of infested area and determine treatment type required to eliminate and prevent recurrence of infestation. Clean and remove blockages to facilitate application. Utilize appropriate protective gear and equipment during application. Perform preventive maintenance and treatment throughout the year.   REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in pesticide application. Be knowledgeable about the identity and biology of different kinds of pests and their eradication. Be trained in pesticide use and safety, rodent, and insect control. Understand that each environment, building, and unit are client specific, and could be the same or different from one client to another. Assists, works with and reports to Pest Control Specialist. Must process physical and mental stamina. Job may require working in an uncomfortable environment Must have good communication skills, be customer focus and team oriented. Must have good time and management skills. Be knowledgeable about a wide variety of pest and be-up-date with current industry practice. Be willing to conform and comply to BHP’s Best Practices polices. Perform additional tasks, as needed. Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity; provides excellent customer services to internal and external customers; listens to questions and concerns, evaluates issues and possible solutions, works collaboratively with the Boulder Housing Partners team to address systemic problems; inspires confidence and respect; uses feedback from others to grow and develop. Take proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Reports all incidents, accidents, and damage to BHP property. Actively support and uphold the BHP’s stated mission and values. Optimizes the use of resources; responsible for knowing and complying with all BHP policies,participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.   DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with housing software, Manager Plus.
