Rush/Smiths cover act?

Description

Putting some feelers out to see if there’s any potential for this… I play bass in an original band but, once the pandemic is over I’d like to put an act together where we play music that we love for some fun. I love both of these bands AND I enjoy playing their bass parts. I would like to put together a one-set (to start at least) casual project where we either (1) do a Smiths cover set or (2) do a Rush cover set or (3) perform a combo of both. A friend suggested the combo band be called “Rush-olme Ruffians” which I thought was pretty damn funny. I’m a bassist and nobody wants to hear me sing so it would not be a tribute act where we dress up or try to sound *exactly* like them, though I’d like the parts to be played somewhat accurately. Both of these vocalists have pretty distinct voices and it could end up cartoonish if someone tries to mimic them. I have a potential female vocalist lined up and possibly a keys player. If you are a guitarist or drummer (or keys) who loves any of these ideas and would like to put the work in at home to learn a set so that we can rehearse and play out once it’s safe to do so, hit me up! I can share some of my playing and you can do the same and we can take it from there. The goal would be to get in on a few tribute nights per year in the Boston area. Nothing too frequent. We’re based out of Nashua but anywhere from here down to the Boston metro area is good, depending on everyone’s willingness to drive. Any questions just ask me, ask me, ask me!
