I don't think many of us realize just how important sleep is to health and happiness. health and happiness are synonymous - because when you find health, you find yourself, and you are automatically happier!what are our main indicators for health and happiness? well think about it. probably feeling good, good energy levels, stable emotions, and a body composition that we can be happy with. after one night of poor sleep:you have less focus. simple tasks seem more challenging. your mood and emotions are off. you'll notice yourself more moody, irritable, cranky, and sensitive. the next day your hunger and cravings are different. your tendency to want to eat more, snack more, and especially eat more carbohydrates increases.blood sugar handling is dysregulated, which means insulin levels are high, even when eating the same foods, which means your tendency to store body fat increases.which means after one night of poor sleep, you're less happy and your body composition is changing in the wrong direction! poor sleep over days, weeks, months, and years and everything gets worse:stroke risk quadruples!obesity diabetes risk increases because of insulin resistance.ability to burn fat is almost completely suppressed.risk of cancer increases because of metabolic derangement and suppressed immune system.risk of heart disease increases because of inflammation.sperm count decreases.risk of death from all causes increases.
