Job description: Production Utility Person Overall description of Production Utility person: This position is unique in that it requires knowledge in both production and Service. They will also need to handle issues and perform tasks with little supervision. Must be able to take direction and carry out tasks as instructed. To ensure efficient flow of work within washroom department and between unloading, sorting and finishing departments in the most cost efficient manner; following Daily Production Schedule to achieve superior quality merchandise. Duties & Responsibilities • Processing, unloading, moving vehicles, closing procedures • Inspect and grade all mats coming from washroom for cleanliness and quality. When necessary, down-grade mats to GWI standards. • To maintain a superior level of quality in merchandise processed. • Follow daily Production schedule. Fold, stack, and sort all mats according to GWI standards, as follows: • To maintain the physical facilities in as clean and sanitary a condition as professional standards dictate. • Fill out daily worksheet. Log quantity and time of each classification folded for that day. • To perform all jobs in departments when necessary. • Sort soil • Count soil by customer • Log counts onto soil tickets • Inspect and fold clean linens and band/label • Sort garments for delivery • Directs and assists Assistant Washer(s) in loading and operating automatic & manual washers, extractors and drying tumblers. • Manipulate buttons, valves, switches and levers to start, stop, admit proper amounts of water, soap, bleaches and other conditions, while timing cycles and draining. Observe signals indicating need for additional supplies on semi-automatic control machines. Observe signals for completed cycles on all machines to ensure proper wash without impairment to insure to linen and mats. • Sets automatic controls for washers by adjusting or changing washing formula charts,plates or microprocessors to govern sequence of operations for required loads. • To ensure the following information is recorded on the Daily Wash Logs: soil classifications, item descriptions and time-in/time-outs. • To ensure (previous day's) soil items are correctly "washed out" by the end of shift. Notifying Production Manager (2 hrs. prior to end of shift) when production requirements will not be met. • To maintain a superior level of quality in merchandise processed. • To maintain and clean ancillary washroom equipment i.e. lint trap, airline drainage, discharge sump, Lubricate, adjust and perform minor repairs to washroom equipment. Requisition major repairs. To maintain the physical facilities in as clean and sanitary a condition as professional standards dictate. • To ensure proper close-down procedures are followed including: closing gas valves, main water valve, specified electrical circuit breakers and lights. All washers, extractors, tumblers are emptied with doors opened at the end of the shift. • To report any damaged merchandise to the Production & Service Managers immediately via Quality Alert Label. • Work closely with soap and merchandise vendors for technical advice to run a cost effective washroom. • Work closely with sorting and finishing departments to ensure as efficient and fast work flow. • To perform all jobs in departments when necessary. Requirements: - Valid California issued driver’s license - Clean driving record - Some computer skills - Customer Service oriented - Early morning hours (5:00- 6:00 a.m.) start - Good work history - Pleasant personality - Able to lift 75 pounds
