Field Site Supervisor ArcByt Hutchinson, MN Our Mission ArcByt is a stealth startup company set out to transform the tunneling industry. Our mission is to save money, property, and lives by moving utilities underground. The company is developing a tunneling robot to efficiently and safely bore utility conduits through hard rock. ArcByt’s innovative technology is 10x faster and 1/10th the cost of most conventional tunneling methods, making small-diameter utility infrastructure economically viable. The Role The Arcbyt Production Team is prototyping, testing, and integrating a prototype tunnel boring machine out of our Hutchinson, MN facility. Once our prototyping system is ready, we will mobilize our equipment, trailers, and containers to the field site and test our system performance by running through a series of small-scale tunneling operations. Once the milestones are achieved, `we will break down our equipment and return to the facility in Hutchinson for the next set of iterations. This process will continue throughout the product life cycle, with 1-2 field deployments each year. Arcbyt is looking for a Field Site Supervisor to work out of our Hutchinson R&D facility and manage field operations in varying locations for three to four months at a time. The Field Site Supervisor will be trained on our prototype tunneling system in Hutchinson, MN, and assist with testing, prototyping, commissioning and assembling sub-systems, building out mobilization systems like trailers or containers, and providing site vendor management while at the facility. Responsibilities At the field site, the Site Supervisor will be responsible for setting up infrastructure (power, water, restrooms, office trailers, Internet), coordinating mobilization and installation of equipment and containers, commissioning our prototype tunneling machine, and running day-to-day operations during the tunneling process. This will include managing the Site Technician, a rotating staff of engineers, and outside vendors. When the project is complete, the Site Supervisor will coordinate breakdown and pack out of all equipment. Leads setup, commissioning, and breakdown of all field equipment (Generators, air compressors, water pumps, hydraulics, power supplies, etc.) Supervises and trains site technicians and personnel Determines and implements tunneling schedule with team leads Manages day-to-day tunneling operations Implements and executes safety protocol and procedures Immediately reports all accidents, injuries, and near-misses Monitors and directs field vendors and crews (Refueling, pump-outs, scheduled blasts, etc.) Tracks and maintains inventory (infrastructure and engineering BOMs, raw materials, tools, etc.) Performs troubleshooting, repair, and equipment maintenance Manages test recordkeeping/data collection Operates heavy equipment and machinery, including forklifts, telehandlers, or skid steers Leads field site surveys to determine if field locations will meet our testing needs Requirements Willing to live full-time at the field site when we are deployed (3-4 months at a time) Willing to travel for short periods to our California location and potential field sites (10%) Experience supervising a field site in general construction, tunneling, mining, or oil/gas rigs Experience training field technicians and other staff Electrical experience and/or certifications Plumbing experience and/or certifications Experience in metalworking/fabrication (welding, cutting, soldering) Forklift, skid steer, and/or telehandler certification Safety certifications (OSHA, MSHA), safety leadership a plus Experience operating and maintaining equipment such as generators, pumps, hydraulic systems, air compressors, compressed gases, etc. Flexible, adaptable, and works well with others Benefits Competitive salary and equity 401K plan Employer-sponsored health, dental and vision insurance Monthly cell phone reimbursement Paid holidays and flexible PTO $100 monthly fitness/health stipend Equal Opportunity Employer ArcByt, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer; employment with ArcByt, Inc. is governed on the basis of merit, competence and qualifications and will not be influenced in any manner by race, color, religion, gender, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, mental or physical disability or any other legally protected status.
