We are a newly retired “dog” couple with two homes (in Santa Cruz, CA and Bigfork, Montana) and lots of acreage and adventures ready for our new forever companion. We are on almost every waiting-list out there for shelters and a few breeders but would rather spend a lot less $$ to adopt a pup that really needs a loving forever home. We are not in a hurry but are equipped and ready to adopt – we are also looking for the right fit for us. Looking for a puppy to up to a 2-year old, Golden or Lab or mix, male or female. We have had a purebred Golden and a Lab before but willing to adopt even a mix of the two breeds. We aren’t the type that leaves our pup at home but almost always bring them along as they are part of our family as their “pack”. We have a big “pack” of six kids (grown and married on their own) and as many grandkids that are almost always around with their own dogs (mostly big breeds). I plan to train our new companion in the basic behaviors and manners, and if willing, to also train him/her on tracking and search and rescue work.
