Meter Reader I Direct Hire opportunity to work at a global utility company. Excellent benefits including health care, cell phone, and company vehicle. Primary responsibility is to read assigned gas/electric meters, mobile or manually. This is a 2500 square mile service territory (mostly western Washington from I90 up to the Canadian border). The Meter Reader remotely uploads assigned work on a daily basis. Additionally, responsible to identify failed service/meter/module conditions. Report findings, skips, and abnormal conditions to supervisor. Remotely upload daily work in the morning & check-in work at the end of the day. Ability to effectively plan and execute routes to maximize meter read collections. Navigate routes efficiently with the use of a map in the Mobile Reader program. Obtains mobile and manual meter reads for monthly/bimonthly billing purposes and /or reads for accounts that have been escalated due to customer complaints or Public Utility Commission. Manual meter reads must be obtained with quality, accuracy, and great pace. Ability to learn and use the Mobile Reader software for meter read/skip data entry. Submits photographic documentation for unobtainable/skipped meter reads on a daily basis. Identify unsafe meter, theft of service or other conditions on an account. Report defective or unsafe service conditions. As needed ability to effectively use test equipment to verify meter functionality. Participate in monthly safety meetings. Maintains assigned equipment to standards/specification. Company equipment includes: vehicles, computers/tablet, cellphone, test and safety equipment, etc. Additional duties as assigned by supervisor or manager. Follow and enforce all corporate and local QHSE standards. Correct and/or report exceptions. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through process review. Must have basic computer skills & experience in MS Office (MS Word and Excel). Possess proficient oral and written communication skills. Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license. Understand and comply with all company goals and objectives Maintain accurate records of day-to-day activities. High School diploma or equivalent required. Meter reading, driving experience and/or customer service preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must pass a background check and drug screen.
