ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Metrics are back on the rise in Anne Arundel County. The case rate, hospitalization total and percent positivity are all the highest they have been since early to mid-February. On the other hand, the immunization rollout is progressing. About 24 percent of county residents have gotten at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine. Gov. Larry Hogan recently expanded inoculation eligibility and laid out a timeline of when the remaining Marylanders can get the shot. These updates only apply to vaccine clinics operated by state and private providers. The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has not yet released a corresponding plan of when it will open its own immunization sites to more residents. Last week's 787 infections are up 160 from the week prior. It was the seventh straight week that Anne Arundel recorded less than 1,000 new cases. Before that, the county had clocked more than 1,ooo new infections per week for about three consecutive months. The virus also killed six county residents last week, which is one less than the week before, the Maryland Department of Health said. Here's a look at where the numbers stand in Anne Arundel County.
