PRINCETON, NJ — Princeton Police is warning residents of a PSE&G phone scam, aimed at targeting customers. The police department said they have received several calls from residents recently reporting the scam calls. According to the police, victims say they received calls from someone reporting to be from PSE&G. The caller tells residents their utility bill is past due and if payment is not made within an hour, power will be shut down. The caller will then request payment be made through transferable gift card, police said. Police have asked residents not to pay bills over the phone that require them to purchase a gift card. PSE&G bill can be paid online by clicking here.
