Description

I've posted twice before... both times the pandemic lasted WAY longer than I thought. I got lots of responses, all of which I have lost. My bad.... My apologies to the guys who responded before...... Anyway, I've had both vaccine shots so I feel the risk is minimal to my fellow musicians and myself. Here is my original Post.. We'll assume, based on my posts' title, you are an older, possibly retired Rock n Roll musician? If not, don't keep reading..... Are you someone who used to play in bands professionally or semi-professionally? Maybe you reached a time when the treadmill of driving to gigs, loading in, doing a show and loading out just wasn't worth it? You might be interested... If you are an older guy who maybe needs the extra money and enjoys or is willing to put up with the work involved with constant gigging, don't bother to read more. This ISN'T for you.... Here's the deal, I'm an experienced Classic Rock n Roll guitarist living in the Apex/Cary area.. My wife and I have enjoyed a 7 year tropical vacation in Florida but upon family visits, have fallen in love with NC. I played professionally and semi-professionally for many years in the NY tri-state area.. I have pro gear. I've kept my chops up reasonably well. I'm reaching out to see if there are guys that might feel like I do. You still love playing your instrument but don't want the "second job" hassles and responsibilities of a full time band. I don't want to pursue a "career". I don't want to put up with drama and stress. I'd like to meet local, low key musicians with some pro or semi-pro experience and have some fun jamming on songs we have in common.. If a gigging situation presented itself, I'm not against getting out 2 to 4 times MAX a month at good venues, all in good time. Read carefully, gigging is not the goal here, at least initially. My wife and I were bound by a band in FLA. I won't get into a scene like that again. We like to travel and do other stuff besides being "road Rats".... I'm not the guy who enjoys going to venues and schmoozes/begs for work and I'm not crazy about sleazy "joints". I'm not into being the "leader or boss". IDEALLY a 4 piece, bass, drums, rhythm guitar( with lead vocal ability) and myself on lead guitar ( I can contribute lead and harmony vocals) with at least 3 singers would be fun. A piano/Gregg Allman organ player would be GREAT !!! A bonafide male lead singer would be welcome Nothing against female singers, most music I like has a male singer... REALISTICALLY, I'd be fine initially with getting together with a bass and drummer. You don't have to be Jack Bruce or Ginger Baker. Just own good gear and play tastefully in time and in tune. An ability to learn songs would be necessary. Lol. I like to stretch out if a song lends itself, into jams ala Allmans, Tom Petty/Heartbreakers, Blackberry Smoke etc..... At least one guy besides me, should be willing to sing. A session a couple of times a month purely for the fun of it would be fine. I'd rather not travel too far out of the Apex/Cary/Raleigh area unless the situation is mind blowing. LOL The farther I have to drive, the less time I'll dedicate to it... I have no rehearsal space and I sold my FLA PA system, so anyone who has either, moves to the "front of the line". :-)... Music wise I'm into The Beatles, Stones, Cream, Bad Co., Southern Rock, SRV, The Eagles, cool one hit wonders etc. Basically good Classic Rock n Roll/Blues Rock from the 60s to the 80s. I write originals in that Classic Rock vein and would be open to working up originals. Guitar wise I'm into early Clapton, Joe Walsh, Mark Knopfler, Jimi Hendrix, the usual "suspects". :-)... Summing up, I'm looking forward to hopefully hearing from like-minded "geezers" who feel like I do. Maybe you can educate me on the scene around Apex/Cary/Raleigh and we can have some fun? Thanx
