CONNECTICUT — Health officials believe they are "keeping ahead" of the coronavirus variants creeping into Connecticut even as the U.K. variant now represents up to 40 percent of the cases in the state. Gov. Ned Lamont provided the optimistic forecast during a news conference Monday. Over the weekend, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state hit 299,676, up by nearly 3,000 the past three days. The positivity rate has "ticked up" according to Lamont, from 2.87 to 3.59 percent, but is "still pretty stable." Neighboring states New York and Massachusetts are trending similarly, the governor said.
