Description

https://soundcloud.com/quarter_moon-and_a_guitar My wife and I seek a second acoustic lead, etc. instrumentalist and for happy-hour gigs, jamming, etc. She’s the main singer with some hand percussion; I sing and play acoustic guitar. While I play passable lead/slide, carrying the rhythm generally suits me fine. We’re seeking a tasteful, accomplished lead player with the ability to blend rhythm; if lead/harmony vocals are also your bag, even better. Don’t worry, we’re not lookin’ to hog all the songs. Here’s the fit we’re seeking: --Mainly love music and want to play, like all the time. If you happened to not pick up your instrument one day and feel like you just lost your keys, you know what I’m talking about. --A second lead/slide acoustic guitar is optimal, but we’re open to any acoustic instrument that blends with and enhances the rhythm guitar. Playing and not playing are of equal importance. --Lucky for you, we have stellar taste in music. In fact few have better taste, objectively speaking. We mostly play roots rock covers from any era (prefer deeper tracks), but toss in some obligatory country, folk, and standards, and are open to Americana or anything that makes you feel something. It’s the song, not the era or genre. Bring it, Pardner, and present it, even if she don’t hold a candle to the Stones circa 1968 – 1972. (Yes, of course we also have originals worth a damn.) --We’re (a bit past) middle-aged but look freakin’ good despite it. Age doesn’t really matter to us, but generally be over 40, mainly because for you roots rock is the language you spoke out of the womb as opposed to one you learned in school. Just don’t act over 40, for Chrissakes. Or under 40, for that matter. --We enjoy a couple drinks while playing but don’t let it affect the music. Likewise, I’m sure, whatever your indulgences. --We take music seriously, but don’t take music seriously, if that makes sense. --We’re not overly motivated and don’t exactly aspire to play the Saxon. I’m thinking a regular 4- 6 weekend gig on the outdoor stage at Slow Pokes’ Brisket Shack or some brewery that attracts a mixed-age crowd. And with you-- being a fairly seasoned and tasteful player--we won’t not get that gig that you apparently need to impress your girlfriends/ex-wives/bookies/etc. --If concerns exist about working with a couple, fear not—we don’t “team up.” If there’s any teaming up, it’s almost always against me, sadly. --We have a dedicated music space, equipment, etc. and live in Far South Austin. --If you voted for Trump, don’t even think about bringing up politics. --Our viewings of “The Last Waltz” recently reached the double digits. --Sample songs, below, are itchin’ for your additions. If you have something similarly representative, that’d also be awesome. https://soundcloud.com/quarter_moon-and_a_guitar
