Description
Please read entire description—
Teddy is a purebred, neutered, 7 year old Shih Tzu. He’s fully house trained. He is not a barker/yipper/yapper, he’s always very quiet, except when the doorbell rings. He is very calm, likes short walks 2x a day and laying around the rest of the day.
He knows some commands: sit, wait, come on, let’s go, go to bed.
He is great with cats, avoids/ignores dogs, he’s good with brief interactions with kids but needs an adult only home.
He will scavenge on walks and likes already chewed gum and apple cores—I have been bitten trying to get these things out of his mouth.
He does not like to be groomed but must be groomed regularly and will bite or try to bite. He does not like the vet and will often get stressed and try to bite.
He growled and snapped at my daughter as she was petting him this weekend (unprovoked) and I don’t trust him.
We’ve had him a year, rescued from a family in NJ (just before the pandemic hit) who had a toddler, they said the toddler was allergic but I think Teddy may have been aggressive. If he’s not stressed he’s very sweet, follows me from room to room and likes to snuggle.
If you are experienced with Shih Tzus or interested in a smallish dog (20 pounds) who is high maintenance and may bite please send me a message. Thank you.
