Under the supervision of the Building/Grounds Superintendent, this position provides services in support of the Division of Recreation & Wellbeing's facilities, grounds, fields, and related maintenance equipment. This position participates in and leads maintenance staff personnel involved with all outdoor operations. This position encompasses lead work responsibility for vehicle diagnostics and skilled repairs for all outdoor equipment which includes but not limited to: a pick-up truck, Bobcat toolcat, Kubota utility vehicles, diesel riding lawn mowers, gas line painters, various small engines, other grounds maintenance equipment, as well as maintains records and parts inventory. This position will be required to work Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm. Work hours are subject to change to meet the needs of the Division of Rec Well. This position may be required to work at other Rec Well facilities as needed. 1. Employee supervision and management experience including conflict resolutions, performance evaluations and disciplinary recommendations. Exceptional interpersonal skills required to lead and coordinate required tasks. 2. Knowledge of techniques and terminology used in the operation and maintenance of athletic and sports fields including repair of facilities, grounds and recreational equipment. 3. Knowledge of mechanical operating of internal combustion engines and accessories, power train and chassis components of vehicles and other motor-driven equipment. 4. In-depth knowledge and skills with mechanic tools and equipment used in the repair of motorized equipment. 5. Knowledge and safe use of hand and power tools (drills, saws, grinders, sanders, table saw, miter saw, hammer drill, impact drivers etc.) 6. Knowledge with grounds maintenance including but not limited to mowing, trimming, fertilizing, seeding and turf maintenance including the operation-related grounds equipment required to perform these tasks. 7. Knowledge of safety precautions and procedures applicable to maintenance shops and mechanical equipment. 8. Computers skills required for e-mail and to research repair solutions/parts, and to use the work order/preventative maintenance system.
