Description

Weeding, Mulching, Edging.. Help get the garden in shape so visitors can easily see each plant they're learning about! Early spring activities in the garden focus on weeding and mulching, to ensure our educational specimens are easily visible to learners at our tours and workshops. Volunteers will either focus on removing a couple specific plant species from beds where it doesn't belong throughout the garden, or on intensive preparation of a couple plots, including some weeding, transplanting, and mulching under and between plants to suppress further weeds and highlight the collection's specimens. Perks of volunteering include access to the garden and our incredible stock of powerful plant allies, refreshing beverages made fresh, plant and knowledge shares, and community! *Please Note, and Adhere to, these Safety Measures: Participants will maintain minimum 6' physical distancing at all times, and wear masks when working or talking near others. Please bring your own tools if you have them (a bucket, a digging tool, gloves, pruning shears, kneeling pad or stool if you use them), and your face mask or scarf. We will sanitize any tools you borrow from us before and after your use, if you need to use ours. Only one person at a time may enter the building to use the restroom facility.* Potted seedlings and divisions are available for donation at all our public events, as well as seeds and printed or recorded publications from Jim and Peggy Duke and others. Note: This event takes place outdoors. Please dress for the weather, and the possibility of insects.
