BERKELEY, CA — A Sacramento County man has been arrested on suspicion of child sex abuse, Berkeley police said.
Officers on March 15 arrested the 63-year-old suspect at his home Elk Grove home, police said.
The arrest followed a report from two alleged victims, one of whom who is now an adult, who said they were sexually abused by the same older relative when they were both children, police said.
The abuse was described as ongoing when each victim was between 5 and 10 years old, police said
Detectives from the Youth Services Division investigated the case secured a warrant for the suspect's arrest, police said.
The Alameda County District Attorney has charged the suspect with oral copulation of a victim under the age of 10 and continuous sexual abuse of a child, police said.
"Investigation of sexual assaults and crimes against children are some of the most important work police officers do," the Berkeley Police Department said in a statement.
"We commend our Detective Division who work tirelessly to investigate these crimes and ensure the safety of the most vulnerable members of our community."
