Description

Learn how to care for and rehab your wood windows to save time, money, and the historic character of your property! Participants will learn what it takes to repair and restore wood windows. With the right upgrades, window repair and restoration often provide the same or better energy efficiency than new windows, costs less than replacement, and protects the building's historic integrity. Join instructor, Jim Turner, for a presentation about wood window efficiency and watch as he demonstrates the basic skills needed to repair wood windows. Participants will have opportunities to try their hands at these skills as well. This event is offered at no-cost to Highland Park residents. Class size is limited, and registration closes May 20, 8:30pm. Coffee and snacks provided. COVID-19 Precautions: Please be advised that this learning opportunity is taking place outside following social-distant guidelines and all participants will be asked to wear a mask. Masks will be provided to those without. Learn how to take your wood windows from this... ...to this! Locally, this demonstration is supported in part by the Highland Park Local Historic District Commission and the Ernest T. Ford Recreation Center. This demonstration is supported in part by an award from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and a grant from the Michigan Preservation Fund of the Michigan Historic Preservation Network and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
