Need Character Inspiration

I'm writing a short story that requires several military characters but since it isn't my normal area I am looking for some inspiration. If you know anyone who is active duty or even retired if you can describe them in their late high school to mid-twenties and maybe send some photos, some of their stories, jokes, anything that could inspire me to create a character based on them. As I said, they could be in their twenties right now, or it could be your grandpa if you can tell me about him at that age. Thanks!
