We are a breeding/show kennel of Golden Retrievers in Newcastle. First and foremost, please only apply if you are okay working with an ethical breeder. We have wonderful families who adopt our dogs and I must have someone who can stand behind our vision of bringing wonderful healthy puppies to our families that purchase them. We are looking for someone who adores dogs and can help with the daily running and upkeep of the facility. Puppy and adult dog care as well as cleaning/sanitizing all dog/puppy areas is part of this job. Some handyman experience is needed (see below). Must have experience with puppies and dogs, kennel care and have references and be very trustworthy. We house up to 20 dogs at a time and we offer wonderful healthy and well socialized puppies to families. We also offer a training program with professional trainers on site. We have a busy/fast paced environment and our eight years of success are heavily due to our dedication to promoting an environment of positivity and camaraderie while providing incredible furry family members to our clients. Excellent customer service, multitasking skills, love and dedication to animals and a positive attitude are a must! We are open 7 Days per week, including holidays, and we operate from 7AM - 9PM and we are looking for someone with an open schedule. We will consider both full time and part time employment. Punctuality and trust are very important in this role. Please let me know when applying what your available days/hours would be. Duties could include any of the following in the manager position: Bathing, feeding, exercising, cleaning, giving medications, socializing and other miscellaneous kennel duties. This will also include fixing things like broken gates, sprinklers, mowing, weed eating, organizing, etc. Experience as a handyman is a needed asset to this position. This position has growth potential! We are looking for someone to start ASAP! *MUST have kennel experience with large dogs (50+pounds) in a pack setting. Up to 20 dogs on site at a time. *Experience with puppy whelping and breeding is a plus. (not required) *Dog training experience is a plus. (not required) *Availability open to days/afternoons/evenings, including weekends, from 7am until 9pm. Split shift is also a possibility. *Confident in handling dogs, dealing with pack mentality. Able to see possible problems and defuse as needed. *Ability to lead kennel attendants, dog walkers/socializers, etc. Must be able to address any areas of concern with staff as needed with confident yet kind assistance and control. *Punctuality and Reliability are key elements to this position. *SELF STARTER! See what needs to be done and do it. *Extremely organized and a go-getter. Always looking to be the best and how to better the program. *Able to wear many hats as needed and to do so with confidence and control. The saying "that's not my job" is not welcome here. *Caring, kind and compassionate yet able to control emotions are very important in this position. *Most importantly you will ensure kennel runs smoothly at all times and dogs, their areas, and the entire facility are clean and cared for at all times. I am looking for someone who does not mind being outside to work, is a SELF STARTER, does not mind getting dirty or doing dirty jobs with a lot of energy and desire to keep our environment clean and sanitized when needed. You should be able to see what needs to be done and just do it. We are not looking for someone who needs direction all the time. Consistency is everything in this job, being here when you are scheduled and being on time is highly important. You MUST be positive, positive, positive. If you tend to be someone who cannot see the bright side of things, have trouble being on time, or taking direction, please do not apply. You should be good with your hands, have stamina, be strong, work quickly and efficiently. We feed a raw food diet to our dogs/puppies and you will be in charge of this or train others as needed in the mornings/evenings that you are here. You could be exercising the dogs and socializing the puppies when we have them. We have a professional trainer but ideally you will work on continued coordination of puppy training. Consistency is very important in this job and required. We are a family environment and will require references and a background check.
