POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a Short Term Packaging Assistant for the proper handling, packaging, and shipment of designer-light fixtures, ranging from glass, metals, to cast paper. The ideal candidate person will have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Duties for this position include the appropriate methods for packaging and shipping various light fixtures, via common carrier and road/sea/air freight, to national and international destinations. The position is part-time with a competitive hourly wage, beginning immediately. Work hours are onsite from Tuesday, March 23,24,25,26, and Monday 3/29 from 9:30-6:00 pm, with 30 min off for lunch. Total of hours 40 hrs @ $20 per hour. The applicant will invoice us after 3/29 and must provide a Soc. number on a W9 form. You will be issued a 1099 form at the end of the year for tax purposes. We are relocating our showroom, production, and offices from Chelsea to Brooklyn. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Follow company procedures and policies for packaging and shipping primarily light fixtures, and at times, design objects and furniture • Efficiently and meticulously wrap and package light fixtures and office items into cartons • Document and log accurate and descriptive packaging/shipment reports with photo documentation • Maintain neat organization in the shipment area daily which includes trash and recycling within the entire studio • Assist with prepping parts packaging and other simple moving-related duties. • Report to Operations Director POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: • Positive/friendly attitude with a strong work ethic • Team player willing to learn, improve and adapt to a changing, fast-paced work environment • 0-2 years of experience in art handling, a plus if you had prior work experience with art handling packing procedures • Ability to learn how to efficiently and safely handle, move, pack, unpack, load, unload sensitive and valuable lighting fixtures • On-the-job creativity, flexibility as well as problem-solving skills • Must be organized, accurate and detail-oriented • Physical able to lift 60lbs or more, repeatedly HOW TO APPLY: For immediate consideration, please reply to the craigslist posting Serious applicants only; no phone calls and emails to the studio inbox, please. • Short statement about yourself and why you’re applying • Your Resume • 2-3 Professional References
