San Francisco Police have announced an arrest in a brazen daytime assault on two elderly Asian Americans on Market St., one of which fought off the attacker herself and sent him to the hospital with injuries. The two victims, a 75-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man, were treated and released following the incident, the aftermath of which was captured on video. The suspect is 39-year-old Steven Jenkins. Police said Thursday he’s also thought to have been involved in a fight at the U.N. Plaza about a half hour before he assaulted the elderly man, ran as an officer chased him and then assaulted the elderly woman. Both incidents, while separate, are believed to have been unprovoked.
