A PRESENTATION BY LOCAL ARTIFACT COLLECTOR MARK MCGINLEY:
EARLY DEVELOPMENT OF MARINE MILLS, VASA, OTISVILLE, COPAS, AND NEW SCANDIA
Mark McGinley, a collector of local history and artifacts, has been going to local Scandia-Marine auctions and estate sales with his wife Dawn since the mid-1980s to augment accounts from local history books. Over the years, Mark has met area families and gathered personal stories of those who lived in the area and are no longer with us. With his passion for local history, Mark will present a timeline on the development of Marine Mills Township, leading to the split-off of New Scandia and May townships in 1893. The discussion will cover early history of Marine Mills, Vasa, Otisville, Copas, Scandia, and Marine on St. Croix.
Artifacts: The presentation will include a display of artifacts from the Mark and Dawn McGinley Collection, as well as time for questions and discussion.
Fiddle music with Holle Brian will follow the presentation.
No registration required. Free-will donation event. Bring your own chair or blanket. A tent will be available in case of inclement weather.
The event will also be broadcast on Facebook Live from the Scandia Heritage Alliance page.
