A carpenter is an individual that is knowledgeable on how wood works, has great hand dexterity, an eye for detail, and a great knowledge of most tools associated with woodworking. This position works directly under our wood shop manager to create high end live edge furniture in a small wood shop. This work includes using saws, planers, sanders, stains, sealants, etc. as well as hand tools to assemble table legs. This position may also include working with a lumber kiln, saw mill, etc. as needed. Uncommon Woods is a premier live edge furniture manufacturer and retailer that has just started. Qualifications: Required: - Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools - Knowledge of how to cut, shape, and prepare lumber for building - Able to build tables to our specific standards - Build with high-quality double-checking work along the way to ensure no material or time is wasted - Knowledge of how to maintain tools and workshop to ensure everything is in order - Skilled application of finishes to table once built - Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times - Good understanding of basic math Preferred: - Proven experience as carpenter - Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials - Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and tools Benefits: - Competitive pay based on experience - Annual merit increases - Health, dental, vision insurance - Matching retirement plan - Paid vacation time and holidays
