Local Positions With Flexible Schedules Available Throughout Washington, Oregon, and North Idaho Smith Gardens, Inc. is hiring for seasonal merchandising positions to work in local retail garden centers. This position requires a self-driven individual with a strong work ethic, who is service focused, people oriented, and possesses strong communication skills. Must be willing to perform physical labor under variable weather conditions, be a team player, and work well with others. *** Applicant must own a Smartphone (iPhone or Android only) with autofocusing camera and working data plan to qualify for this position - Smartphone will be used for time-clock purposes*** ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES *Make regular store visits to assess and merchandise product in assigned store(s). *Communicate and execute corporate direction to store associates. *Assist store employees with Garden Center layout execution *Assist stores with understanding watering needs and merchandising best practices *Help set up live goods displays and features *Stocking, organizing, and signing/pricing of nursery product *Cleaning, culling, and condensing of nursery product on garden center tables CHARACTERISTICS AND SKILLS REQUIRED *Strong "People Skills"-- works well within a team *Previous merchandising experience helpful *Teachable, positive attitude -- Problem Solver vs Problem Identifier *Ability to multi-task *Good time management skills *Ability to work with minimal supervision, honesty and integrity is a must *Physical labor is a requirement of this job - this is hard work!! *Must have reliable transportation PHYSICAL DEMANDS *Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions *Able to spend working hours on your feet *The employee frequently will be required to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, balance and use hands. *Able to maneuver rolling shipping carts *Able to lift, move, and carry trays of flowers and pots weighing up to 30lbs SCHEDULE *Must be able to provide a consistent routine based schedule *Most hours will be worked between 7:00AM and 6:00PM *Availability to work some Saturday's & holiday weekends required - this is retail!
