Description
I look at these ads almost daily, and it blows my mind. Some of you call yourselves "professionals," but the posts I see day to day are anything but.
Your ads are rife with misspellings, you're insulting to the majority of the people that would want to possibly hire you, and too many of you don't post pictures or video links.
What are you trying to hide? Have you burned that many bridges? Maybe it's you...
Before you come at me about the spelling issue, you have to realize, if you can't proofread a post before you actually post it, what kind of attention to detail do you have toward the music?
I understand that every genre is not to everyone's taste but try not to bite the hands that may feed you. You don't have to trash cover bands if you want to write your own songs. But you also have to pay your dues, if you're not extremely lucky right out of the chute.
The posts that drive me crazy the most, and it seems to be drummers (come on, guys and gals!):
"I have my own gear and my own transportation."
Well, bully for you for adulting a little bit! What did you think? That a guitar player is just going to say, "Here dude, take a thousand dollars and get yourself a drum kit?" You should have gear. Otherwise, are you a musician? Transportation issues should be emergency situations only, and between you and your band mates. This should not be a selling point!
We all want to complain about the pay from local venues, but with the bar set as low as you keep it, why should a venue pay more?
(Actually, I don't complain about the pay. I get paid to load in gear; I play the music for free!)
So, seriously, raise the bar. The little things add up.
