The Town of Breckenridge has two exciting summer positions available in the Parks Division! To apply, please visit: BENEFITS -Recreation Center and Ice Rink Pass OR an employee golf pass at the Breckenridge Golf Club -Returning seasonal staff members are eligible for a merit increase based on meeting performance expectations -Potential furnished seasonal housing available for rent -Begin accruing PTO immediately -Unused PTO paid out at separation -Typically 4-10 hour shifts with consecutive days off Parks Maintenance Crew: Duties include, but are not limited to; maintaining public grounds by planting, weeding, pruning, raking, mowing, repairing, and installing irrigation systems, picking up litter, sweeping, and general caretaking. Preparing athletic fields to specific dimensions by measuring, raking, dragging, chalking, and painting lines. Assisting in the upkeep and preventive maintenance of specialized Town property, i.e., street lights, signs, benches, foot bridges, play equipment, trash/recycle receptacles, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Must be available and able to work through the season (generally through mid-September). -Must be 17 years of age or older. -Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D., unless currently enrolled in school. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: A valid Colorado driver's license is required within the first 5 days of employment. Acceptable MVR check will be required. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSES/EXPERIENCE: -One or more years of customer service experience preferred. -Knowledge of accepted landscape maintenance practices related to irrigation systems, turf, plant and flower beds, parks and athletic fields, and experience with the appropriate tools and safety practices. -Specialized training (irrigation, construction, pesticide application, and/or equipment operation/experience) preferred. -Be able to operate specific equipment such as light work trucks. Parks Technician: Duties include, but are not limited to; Application of herbicides and pesticides on Town owned property. Performing complex irrigation repairs on Town owned property. Installing irrigation systems. Maintaining public grounds by planting, weeding, pruning, raking, mowing, repairing, and installing irrigation systems, picking up litter, sweeping, and general caretaking. Preparing athletic fields to specific dimensions by measuring, raking, dragging, chalking, and painting lines. Assisting in the upkeep and preventive maintenance of specialized Town property, i.e., street lights, signs, benches, foot bridges, play equipment, trash/recycle receptacles, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Must be available and able to work through the season (generally through mid-September). -Must be 18 years of age or older. -Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: -A valid Colorado driver's license is required within the first 5 days of employment. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/LICENSES/EXPERIENCE: -Minimum of one year field experience with a focus in the areas of Irrigation or Noxious weed control. -Pesticide Application Certification -Specialized Training/ Knowledge (for example, irrigation, pesticide application, construction and/or turf equipment operation/experience). -Knowledge of accepted landscape maintenance practices related to irrigation systems, turf, plant & flower beds, parks and athletic fields, and experience with the appropriate tools and safety practices. -Be able to operate specific equipment such as light work trucks.
