BLYTHE, CA — A vehicle plunged into an irrigation canal shortly before 5 Friday afternoon after veering off a roadway near Blythe. The Kia Soul was "fully submerged" in the canal in the area of Hobsonway and South Defrain Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol. All the occupants were able to escape the vehicle, the CHP reported, but injury information was unclear. —City News Service
