Description
As Covid winds down and Green-light parties are being planned and arranged, I am looking to start a new live band that can play shows in a few months! I am open to whatever works as long as it is just as much fun for the band as it is for the audience- but to get the conversation going I am looking to combine the following influences and sounds: Booker T and the MGs (great vibe music with rhythm) Boards of Canada (" ") Velvet Underground (can be chill and subdued, yet retain raw energy. Can explode in fury when needed) Trad Gras Och Stenar (" ") Link Wray (like all of the above) Acid Mothers Temple (willing to reach into the outer realms of explored music) old time north american folk music dub drone/doom metal Aiming for a mostly instrumental combo that can play simple smokey grooves and short tunes, yet can also branch into the realms of singing/harmonizing, heavy noise, or psychedelic jams if the gig/audience calls for it. ^this is what I am thinking but again, I am pretty open. about me: -fluent in bass -I have a droney guitar style that uses a lot of hammer-ons and open strings- not very versatile but competent at my own personal style -can also sort of play some saxophone, violin, drum programming, percussion, flute, tin whistle, melodica, chord organ - 15 years experience playing in the underground/diy/experimental/punk scenes of NH, VT, NY, and MA (32 years old, he/him) - I do NOT have a practice space about you: -willing to dedicate time and energy into this project. I almost wrote "please do not consider this if you are already in another band" but I want you to consider this even if you are! -you are a musician who can "bring the ruckus"- this does not mean that you are technically proficient, but can play with heart and enthusiasm -want to have fun playing AND make music that the audience can dance or rock out to -open to improvisation and unusual instrument combinations (fiddle and drum machine, penny whistle and fuzz bass, etc.) feel free to reach out and we can talk about what we want to achieve :) KNOW that I am mostly looking for a good time and GOOD PEOPLE - I hesitate to say that your outlook on life and understanding of the world matter more to me than your musical influences and goals (white supremacists, anti-semites need not apply, etc), but I figured I should put this sentence here before I get a bunch of replies from fuddy duddies who think the current systems in place are "O.K." *I am also interested in playing a lot of covers, but I know this is a turn off for most people, so it is at the bottom of the page
