Description
Paddle Central Florida's natural lazy river. An 8 mile trip downstream will take you through ever-changing, beautifully lush landscape. The Rock Springs Run begins near the headwaters of Rock Springs and flows 8 miles down river with narrow switchback waters through the tropical jungle. Gliding with the current your senses will peak, surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna, tons of birds, reptiles, fish, and the occasional otter. We'll stop at one of the many sandbars to eat snacks or a picnic lunch and go for a swim. The Run leads us to the Wekiwa River which opens a bit wider and finally leads to Wekiwa Island, a local riverfront establishment with food, libations, and relaxation. Then we'll take a short shuttle ride back to the launch site. This outdoor activity is a great way to socialize while maintaining physical distance on individual paddle crafts. Included: Kings Landing launch and shuttle fees (a $30 value).Guided tour by certified and experienced instructor/guide. Quality Stand Up Paddleboard Gear (board, paddle, life vest, whistle).Trip PhotosTour Duration: 6.5 hoursĀ (about 5 hours paddling downstream and 90 minutes relaxing at Wekiva Island). BYOBoard or Paddle Craft: You're welcome to bring your own paddle craft but the ticket price will be the same as King's Landing limits the number of shuttle reservations per day. Paddling Skill Level: Intermediate. Previous stand up paddleboarding experience is required due to navigating narrow switchback turns in current and longer paddle duration. To schedule a Was'SUP?! Beginner's lesson before this event, please call/text Jessica at 850-445-8348. Know how to swim and be ready to have fun! Ages: 15+. Younger kids may ride along free with experienced parents. Bring: Water, towel, snacks or picnic lunch, money or CC for purchasing food and beverage at Wekiwa Island. Wear: sunscreen, hat, clothes that are easy to move in and can get wet (like dry wicking workout clothes or swimwear). Location: Parking is located on the side of the street leading to Kings Landing entrance. First, pull all the way into Kings Landing and unload your belongings at the "unloading zone". Then exit and park as close to the entrance as you can. There is a small store with snacks and drinks for purchase and two rustic restrooms - bring hand sanitizer as they usually do not stock soap. Guide: Jessica Cichra is a SUP enthusiast that has been actively paddle touring, racing, surfing, and instructing since 2009.
