Description

Join us for a socially-distanced English ivy removal work-day along the west side of Potomac Ave, at the corner of Potomac and Manning Pl. Sarah Morse from the Little Falls Watershed Alliance has generously offered to lead another socially-distanced English ivy removal work-day in the Palisades! We'll be freeing the trees along the west side of Potomac Avenue, starting at the corner of Potomac Ave and Manning Pl, and we need volunteers! Our focus will be on removing the English ivy and other invasive vines that are killing the trees and choking out native undergrowth. This is the first in a series of work-days as we work to help our forest by protecting the trees along Potomac ave between Norton St and Arizona Ave. Sarah Morse from the Little Falls Watershed Alliance will provide necessary training, gloves and tools. Please remember that we will be following all the recommended CDC protocols for social distancing and masking. Wear long pants and closed toed shoes to protect against angry vines. We can give Student Learning Hours. Kids under 14 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. We will work rain or shine, snow or fog - however, if the weather is deemed dangerous for outdoor activities, we will cancel. Cancellation will be sent via email 1 hour before the event start time.
