WAKEFIELD, MA — The coronavirus is rebounding here in town. COVID-19 metrics released Thursday by the Department of Public Health increased across the board, showing a more than a 1-percent increase in positive test rate. The positive test rate jumped from 2.93 percent to 3.97 percent, while the average daily incidence rate per 100,000 residents went from 24.5 to 33.5 There were 127 confirmed cases over the last 14 days — that number was at 93 in last week's report. The town has seen 2,160 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. Health Director Ruth Clay earlier this week warned of Wakefield's rising cases, saying it's been happening across Massachusetts. Clay said adult gatherings are the biggest source of spread.
