SALEM, MA — Coronavirus numbers in the city saw a small bump this week. The Department of Public Health on Thursday released the latest COVID-19 metrics in Massachusetts. On the whole, the state saw more of an increase than it has in two months. But Salem's numbers largely stayed steady. The positive test rate increased from 2.07 percent to 2.15 percent, while the average daily incidence per 100,000 residents went up from 18.9 to 20. There were 126 confirmed cases here in the previous two weeks, seven more than last week's number. There have been 4,217 confirmed coronavirus cases in the city since the start of the pandemic.
